We will be making donations, and we are saving some money for next year's insurance and to have available for future projects. We had a Speak-Up about what everyone likes to do over the winter holidays. 15 people participated. President (Erin): Kudos to Chairs - Congratulations to June for chairing Christmas Kids, Joanne for chairing the Coffee Social, and Rob for chairing the Holiday Social. Our meeting day will be switching to the 3rd Wednesday of the month starting in January. Location will be the Poplar Creek Bowling Alley Membership/COB (Joanne): We have 30 members! Be sure to keep telling your friends about the Jaycees. We will be having a Caribou Social on Wednesday, January 9th at 7:00 at the Poplar Creek Caribou Coffee (59 & Higgins). Feel free to just show up or you can tell us you're coming. Community VP (Louise): The Fun Fair is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9th. Abby & Amy volunteered to co-chair the project. This year we're planning to combine the Cancer Benefit with a Chili Contest, where we will be asking Fire Departments to donate chili. Barbara, Erin, and Louise will be chairing the Cancer Benefit, and one more person is still needed to help out with the Chili Contest scheduled for March 1st. If you can help, please let us know. Individual Development VP (Michelle): We will be doing Dinner by Design again. If you'd like to be a part of it, go to www.DinnerByDesignKitchen.com. Use the Kitchen Locator to find the Schaumburg kitchen. Select either the 12 Entree Kitchen Session or 6 Entree Kitchen Session. (you may share your session with one other person for no extra charge!) On the calendar, click on 9:30am on January 26th. Select your entrees and side dishes. We are also planning to go to the Shamrox lacrosse game on February 24th at 2 p.m. ID Project: Kate McNally explained Springboard & Degrees, and members filled out their Degrees forms. Management: Joanne and Kate motioned that we donate $500 to Camp New Hope. The motion passed. Joanne and Abby motioned that we donate $100 to Prevent-the-Bite. That motion also passed. We still have approximately $500 left to donate. Kate motioned that we table the other donations until the next meeting, and the motion passed. We will be selling Superbowl Squares again this year. Local Directors (Chaffee, Kate): Chaffee said that he is glad Hoffman Estates has had such a great year and several new active members. District Director (Keith): Schaumburg will be delivering Wish Tree gifts on Friday night at 6 p.m. Elk Grove will be doing the Santa Phone on Wednesday and Thursday. If you can help with either, call Keith at 224-234-5535. The Regional Meeting will be on Saturday, January 12th. Fill out a registration ASAP if you can attend. Region Director (Chaffee): The State GA will be 1/18-1/20. The registration form can be found at http://www.iljaycees.org/events.htm. If you'd like to share a room with someone, let Joanne know at joanne1232@gmail.com. 2008 Region Director (Joanne): Joanne's theme for 2008 is Join the Fun. She is looking forward to working with us and the other chapters in our region next year. New Members Barbara and Nicki were installed! Rob Smith was sworn is as the 2008 President, and he swore in these members of the 2008 Board: Jeremy, Internal VP; Amy, Treasurer; June, Local Director; Chaffee, Local Director; Erin, State Director. Louise will be sworn in at the January meeting as Community VP. Note: If you are interested in the Secretary or Local Director position on the board, please let a 2008 Board member know. President's Comments (Erin): It has been a great year for the Hoffman Estates Jaycees. Thanks for everyone's hard work! We ran over 40 projects, had a 75% retention rate, added 12 new members, and won numerous awards. We are going into 2008 with a very positive momentum. Theme Award: The December theme award went out to Amy Dudek, who has already come out to 3 projects and 2 meetings since joining a month ago. Way to go, Amy! Adjourn with the creed.
