Jaycees & Guests, Here are the minutes from Wednesday's meeting. There will also be a networking meet & greet social on Friday night at Emmett's in Palatine at 8 p.m. with State President Tanya Lee and other Jaycees. Hope to see you all soon! Erin Meeting Minutes January 16, 2008 Treasurer's Report (Amy): The 2008 Budget was approved with the addition of Shop & Share for $30. President (Rob): Rob's theme for the year is The Classics, so that one day we'll look back at 2008 as a Classic year in the Jaycees.:) January's theme is The Maltese Falcon. Kudos to chairs: Congratulations to June for chairing Holiday Kids Shopping in December. Membership: We have 32 members! Keep recruiting your friends to the Jaycees, since the more active members we have, the better we'll be able to run projects. Community (Louise): We have a lot of community projects planned for 2008. The Fun Fair is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 9th (note: this date may change) and is being chaired by Abby & Amy D. It will be $2/child. The Best Pizza Contest and Cancer Benefit is tentatively scheduled for 4/18, chaired by Erin and Barbara. ID Project: Jaycee Bingo - Members had to discover tidbits about each other in order to achieve Bingo, such as who has a twin, who was a cheerleader, who lived in another state...Don & Ron won! Individual Development & Management (Jeremy): We made a donation to Camp New Hope for $475 and to Prevent-a-Bite for $100. We are running our Superbowl Squares project - see Joanne for information. Dinner by Design is Saturday 1/26 at 9:30. If you want to participate, go to www.dinnerbydesignkitchen.com. The Game Night Social is 2/23 at Kevin & Heidi's house. We will be going to the Shamrox game (indoor lacrosse at the Sears Center) on 2/24. If you have more ideas for ID projects, let Jeremy know. Joanne suggested having a coffee can collection at our meetings, and we voted to approve it. At the end of the year, we will donate the money. Several other projects are coming up within the next month, so keep watching e-mails for upcoming events. Erin also presented several awards received from the regional meeting. For a list, visit the website. Local Directors (June/Chaffee): June & Chaffee will be contacting members occasionally throughout the year to remind them of upcoming events and discuss new ideas. Region Liaison (Richard): There will be regional officer training at Tamarack on 1/28 at 7 p.m. for people who are serving on a board or want to learn more about an open position. Richard also learned why we hold one finger up during the creed - it is for the power of 1 person to make a positive difference. Region Director (Joanne): Joanne's them this year is Join the Fun. Take advantage of the opportunities the Jaycees have to offer.
