President (Erin) - 2007 Budget Approval - Budget was approved as corrected (removed March Madness) - Meeting Day/Location Change - The meetings will be changed starting in March to the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Hoffman Estates Village Hall. Ask friends to come out and play, as we're hoping to recruit new members at the event. Press releases were sent out. - Year-End Awards - Joanne distributed our many awards from the region and state award banquets for the 2006 year-end. Congratulations to all who won! Community (Louise) - Gang Awareness Event will be April 14th at the police station. - Village Cleanup Day is coming up. A date will be announced soon. - The tentative date for the Fun Fair/Cancer Fundraiser is May 12th. A location is still being pursued. ID Speaker: Tax/Financial Planning Speaker – Ed Walsh, CPA - Ed talked about the ways you can save on your taxes this year! Individual Development (Michelle Westfall, ID VP) - Dinner by Design is Feb. 24th at 3:30, for all who signed up. We will meet at the Schaumburg location at 3:30. Management - Superbowl Squares Wrap-Up (Joanne) - We made $500 on the Superbowl Squares. - Shamrox Wrap-up (Joanne/Ray) - We made $90 and had 19 people attend! Joanne made a motion that we donate the $90 proceeds to help pay for Erin's stay for the national write-up competition/convention in March. The motion passed, Rob and Erin abstained. - Birdies for Charity - If you are interested in donating in Birdies for Charity this year, contact Joanne. New Business - We have been soliciting the JAYS program to area schools. - Northbrook (Jeremy) asked if we'd be interested in doing a fondue activity with them. If you're interested, let Erin know at ncyanks4@earthlink.net. - Winnie, one of our prospective members, has invited us to a champagne reception on 2/25 benefitting Operation Asha, which benefits children in New Delhi with health services and education. Region/District Director (Chaffee/Joanne, Keith) - Region Update - Keith talked about upcoming events in the region: Round Lake will be having an Oscar party on 2/25. It is $80 per team. - Region Trainings - There will be regular speakers in the region this year. Dr. Sweet, a highly recognized success coach, will be speaking on 3/22 at the Buffalo Grove Park District at 7 p.m. There will also be CPG trainings and new member orientations throughout the year. Don (from the North Region) said he'd be around to help out and to assist with Blue Chip this year. Awards: The February theme award is Lacrosse: Breakaway. This month's award went to Sarah Novey, for her participation in the New Member Orientation, Lacrosse game, January meeting, and the youth commission. Look for great things to come this year.
