We are still paying bills. We sold tattoos at the Palatine Carnival and made about $315! Thanks to everyone who helped and to Palatine for the booth. The Firehouse Tour on Saturday was hosted by Fire Station #24 and was fun and informational. Rob is going to send a thank-you note. Joanne and about 70 people from several chapters helped out at the Joliet Raceway. The Illinois Jaycees made about $10,000 at the event. They are going to try to go again in September. Board news: President (Mike): The Birdies for Charity is bringing in money for our group. Mid-year books were done by Joanne. She is also doing a blue-chip report for the first half of the year. Treasurer (Rob): We are waiting on some bills from the carnival. Community (Michelle): July 22nd we will be working at the Shelter, Inc. store in Schaumburg from 12-3. We need 4 people at a time for 1 1/2 hours each. It is in the shopping center at Roselle & Weathersfield. We may be able to make this a regular event. Local Directors (Kate/Chaffee): Pictures were taken at the Relay for Life. We discussed making an e-mail list for state directors, presidents, and newsletter editors in the state and region. Membership/Web (Erin): The website has been updated with new events. We've had about 800 hits since we added the hit counter (around February). We're going to do call nights on Wednesday, July 19th and Tuesday, August 1st. There will be a Membership Breakfast from 9-10:30 on Saturday, August 19th. New Business: The 5th Anniversary celebration will be on August 8th. Several people from the region, state, and former Hoffman Jaycees are planning to be here. Press releases for the community. PLEASE COME come out to support the group and celebrate. We will also be doing a Speak-Up at the meeting. We are hoping to have about 50 people from the Jaycees and the community, so even if you can't normally come, please try to come to this meeting. The Golf Outing is July 20th. The Back-to-School Supply Drive will be on Saturday, August 12th, probably from 12-3. It will be at Office Max. If you can come help out that day, please e-mail Kate at hola8@aol.com. Make a Difference Day is Oct. 28th. Jennine will be chairing the project this year. Carnival Community Surveys - Amy volunteered to put the carnival surveys into a spreadsheet. District Director (Debbie): The Regional Social is on Sunday at 9 a.m. On Wed., July 26th there will be competitions for the region in Mundelein at the Century 21 Marketplace at 146 & 45. August 12th is Fox Lake's regional social, a treasure hunt. Schaumburg is holding Septemberfest on 9/2-9/4. people are needed to serve beer or work the membership booth.
