We will be looking for a new restaurant for this year's fundraiser. North Region Social - Several chapters were represented. CPGs - We are working on several CPGs (Chairman Planning Guides). Regional visitations - Several projects took place in the region this quarter that Hoffman members have attended. On Point Ink Fundraiser - Talk up the ink cartridge sales. Fox Valley Wildlife Sanctuary - Items were collected for the fund at the meeting. New Business: President (Joanne): Joanne plans to get a member survey to Amy this week. Amy will put a survey page online. Two movie tickets will be awarded through a drawing for everyone who returns the survey (motion approved). The GA meeting in Decatur will be on May 6th. Congrats to Mike on the newsletter. Treasurer (Rob): We purchased insurance identical to last year's insurance with Zurich. We are giving $250 to Smile Train (from movie ticket proceeds). Membership VP (Erin): We had several Hoffman Jaycees and some region board at the ice cream social, though no new members. We will keep working on recruitment. We discussed advertising at townhome and home communities in Hoffman in the next two months. Web Editor (Erin): The business page on the website has been updated, and we are working on an e-mail addition to the website. We are looking for descriptions from all of the board members. Community VP (Michelle): The Relay for Life is Friday, June 16th. Please plan to come out to help with luminaries. It is at the Schaumburg Flyers stadium. There will be a volunteer day for Rebuilding Together NW Suburban on May 6th (physical labor). If you're interested, let Joanne know. Chairman of the Board (Mike): The police department contact gave Mike information about the gang awareness presentations by the police. We talked about scheduling one for a weeknight after the carnival and advertising it at the carnival and at middle schools in Hoffman. Local Directors - Chaffee encouraged Joanne for leading well this year. He and Amy are looking into mailings to advertise for 3 months. If you are interested, let Joanne know. We will need as many people as possible to help. We'll be visiting regional meetings to request help. New Projects: North Region Trivial Pursuit Contest; Sudoku Membership project on the weekend of 5/20 (Kate). We may also have a Yahtzee contest. District Director: Debbie Taflinger She has been promoting our St. Patty's Day Recovery Social on Saturday. 3/19 Sunday Gurnee is hosting a murder mystery party 3/26 Poker Tournament (Palatine) 3/30 6-10 Best Pizza Contest (Mundelein) 4/2 Region Call Night training She presented cookies to Joanne for keeping up with Blue Chip. She talked about getting POC points for showing what we've accomplished. There are Oz points in the region for local recognition. There will be drawings of prizes. Region Director: Ann Stechly She congratulated us on the follow-through of projects & events and three new members. The theme for the regional will be Welcome to Munchkinland. It will be on 3/28 in Round Lake or 3/29 elsewhere, hosted by Round Lake. She talked & read about hope & promise associated with the Oz theme. She presented Skittles for the colors of the rainbow. GA meeting is planned for 11/10-11/12 in Lisle Good of the Order: Chaffee suggested following up with members after they join to activate them in the chapter. Final thoughts (Joanne) - Go for the gold, play like a champion. Tentative date for pizza contest: Friday, 11/3 Bill Pohlman was the speaker on PR training. He suggested doing press releases monthly for regular events and information as well as projects. One person should be the PR coordinator. We should send press releases out about 3 weeks before events. The PR coordinator should also put his/her contact information at the top right corner of the press releases so the newspaper can call about the events. Also, we should look for writers and columnists who write about fundraising or community events. Do not send multiple copies of the same press release. Send press releases by e-mail one at a time, pasted into e-mails.
