Minutes November 8, 2005 Peter Reitano, an Australian National Board Director International in Queensland, spoke about the Australian Jaycees. He suggested taking the opportunities available in the Jaycees and to look up Jaycees when traveling around the world. And just to answer the question that's been burning in your minds: Kangaroos and crocodiles do not walk down the main streets in Australia. Pictures were taken for the Schaumburg Review. Treasurer: There are some people who need to renew. There is about $4000 in our account currently. Some money is being saved for next year. Web Editor: The website has been redesigned. Ray decided to decline his nomination for next year's board. Membership VP: We are currently +1 for the year. Continue recruiting to try to make Blue Chip. There are more people to be called from the pizza contest ballot forms and the carnival who Kate is following up with. Best Pizza Contest: The pizza contest was a success. Several Jaycees from throughout the region were there to assist. Approximately $500 was raised (to be split between Schaumburg and Hoffman Jaycees). The Hoffman proceeds will be used to purchase holiday gifts for needy children. An e-mail will be sent out about a day to get together to purchase the gifts. Make a Difference Day: 31 boxes of food were collected at Valli's. The food was donated to the Schaumburg Food Depository. Michelle said it started off slow and then had a lot of success later in the day. Region Meeting: We won several awards at Saturday's meeting! They were: January 21st is the next North Region meeting at the European Crystal (Algonquin & Arlington Heights). Pizzeria Uno outing: We will meet at 1:00 on Sunday, December 4th. Region: Brett offered his congratulations on a job well done this year. State: Ann announced the State Jaycee convention. Election of the state officers will be there. It is in St. Louis. Garrett explained that discounted rooms can be arranged. January 29th (Decatur) - Local Officers Training Holiday Year-End party & installation - January 6, 13, or 20 - look for e-mails for dates. Kate moved to open elections. Erin seconded the elections. Garrett led the elections. 2005 Elected officers were: Joanne - President Michelle - Community VP Erin - Membership VP/Secretary Kate - Individual Development VP Rob - Treasurer Mike - Chairman of the Board/Chapter Management VP State Director has been subcontracted to Ann and the North Region board. The next board meeting will be on Tuesday, December 6th at Rob & Erin's house. Garrett (U.S. VP) congratulated Hoffman on being a very strong chapter in the North Region.
