October 16, 2007 Meeting Minutes President (Erin) - Kudos were given to chairs: Rob for chairing Steak & Shake and Joanne for chairing the raffle. The 2008 Board nominations open this month, and we will be voting next month. Be sure to come to the meeting next month! We decided to keep our meetings in the Health & Human Services office in the Village Hall for November and December before moving back to the Village Hall Training Room in January. Membership/COB (Joanne) – We currently have 25 members. If you know of anyone who might want to join, invite them to a project or meeting. Our next membership night will be at the Caribou Coffee (Roselle & Golf) on Thursday, November 8th at 7 p.m. It is open to all members and guests. The October newsletter will be coming out soon. Community (Louise) - Make a Difference Day is on Saturday, Oct. 27th from 10-3. If you can help, please let Kate know at hola8@aol.com. The Pizza Contest Preparation will be on Oct. 29th at Jeremy’s apartment. The Best Pizza Contest will be on Friday, Nov. 2nd at the Schaumburg Township Building. People are needed to work from 6-10, and it’s open to the public from 7-8:30. If you can help, let Louise or Holly know. This year for Christmas Kids, we will be taking 7 children shopping for clothes and other needed items. It will be at Wal-Mart in Streamwood on Sat., Dec. 1st at 9:00 a.m. If you can help, please let June or Erin know. Individual Development (Michelle) – We will be having a Haunted House Visitation in Palatine on Sat., Oct. 20th. Let Joanne know at 847-561-2556 if you can help. The Holiday Social will be on Dec. 15th. Possible locations were Joanne’s house or Riccardo’s, and the idea of driving and looking at lights after the social was discussed. Management – The revised Constitution was approved with one amendment that gives flexibility to separate the internal vice president category into two vice president positions (ID & management) at the board’s vote if there are more people who are interested in serving as vice presidents. The revisions were posted on the internet at www.hoffmanestatesjaycees.org/bylaws.htm. District Director (Keith) – The Region Meeting & Awards evening is Saturday, Nov. 3rd at Lamplighters. It starts at 6:00 for dinner and 7:30 for the meeting & awards. If you’d like to go, contact Joanne, Keith, Chaffee, or Erin. Region Director (Chaffee) - The GA will be in St. Louise from Nov. 9th to 11th. If you’d like to go, let Chaffee or Erin know. Joanne let us know about the next region speaker: Keeping it Kinky at the Schaumburg YMCA on Sat. Oct. 20th. The state is planning to vote on some constitution changes at the GA. Tanya Lee is running for Illinois state president. The Year-End regional will be hosted by Elk Grove in January. Theme Award - The theme for this year is Hoffman Estates Jaycees: a Winning Team. Each month, there has been an award to an outstanding member. This month’s theme is Marathon – Race to the Finish. June came out and worked the entire Car Wash for Clearbrook project this month and participated in the meeting and Steak & Shake fundraiser. June has already stepped up to work on the Christmas Kids project this year. Way to go, June! Motions were made (Joanne, Jeremy) to spend $300 to give to Clearbrook (which includes car wash proceeds) and $400 for the Christmas Kids project. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 20th at 7 p.m. at the Village Hall Health & Human Services office. Hope to see you there!
