Jaycee Meeting Minutes September 12, 2006 Upcoming Events: 9/16 IL Jaycee President Candidate Debate 9/20 Lobsterfest Region Event 9/23 7:00, Potluck/Game Night Social 10/10 Membership Meeting 10/21 (tentative) Haunted House Visitation 10/28 Make a Difference Day 10/29 (tentative) Fall Family Fun Day 11/3 Best Pizza Contest News from the Board President (Joanne): -We are hoping to make the submissions for the Vice President's Cup. A checklist of events from each Jaycee category was discussed. CPG's (Chairman Planning Guides) are being done on several events. -Nominations for next year's board will take place at the October and November meetings. If you want more information about any of the board positions, e-mail a board member. -On Saturday (9/16), the candidates for Illinois Jaycee President will be at the Elk Grove Library at 3 p.m. -The Wheeling Jaycees are sponsoring Lobsterfest, a fundraiser. The North Region will be visiting on Wednesday, 9/20 for $19/person. For more information: http://www.northregionjaycees.org/Lobsterfestflyer2006.pdf Treasurer (Rob): We made about $140 at the car wash that we will be donating to the Clearbrook Center for Developmentally Disabled adults. We have enough money for the rest of the year. Community VP (Michelle): We are expecting to have a speaker from Shelter, Inc. at our October meeting. We hope to volunteer at Shelter, Inc. again soon. COB/Newsletter (Mike): The car wash was successful despite the poor weather and press coverage. Clearbrook will be getting the proceeds. The newsletter went out at the beginning of September. Local Directors (Kate/Chaffee): -There will be a Springboard & Degrees workshop at 6:30 on 9/23 at Kate's house for those interested. -The back-to-school Office Max shopping spree raised some supplies, but next year we'll probably try a more crowded location. -OnPoint is still taking orders for print cartridges. The checks are being sent to Chaffee and then deposited into the Jaycee account. Membership VP (Erin): -The donut breakfast brought out several Jaycees. We expect to have another call night in the middle of October. If interested in helping, please contact Joanne or Erin. -Check out the website. Chaffee recently added a calendar, and several pictures are on there from the August meeting. If you notice anything needing updates, please e-mail Erin at ncyanks4@earthlink.net. New Business: -9/23 Potluck/Game Night Social - Kate's house, 7 p.m. The potluck is only for appetizers and desserts. All members, guests, and kids are welcome. Please let Kate know if you plan to come at hola8@aol.com. Kate's house is located at 227 N. Morris Dr. in Palatine. -We may do a CPG training in November. -10/28 Make a Difference Day - Valli's Grocery Store; We stand outside of the store and collect non-perishable items for the food pantry. -Gang Awareness event - Ray and Jeff are going to look into possible dates and locations for this event. We are hoping for November. -10/29 (tentative) - Fall Family Fun Day; We are hoping to go to Goebbert's and pick pumpkins, see the maze, and do other various activities. -TBA - Shelter, Inc. assistance day; We plan to help out in the store again soon. -The Sudoku competition has been moved to February since it is a great winter event. -February - We hope to see the Shamrox, the new Hoffman Estates professional lacrosse team, play. Ray has presented some group packages, and we hope to get the region involved. Region: Palatine is having a planning meeting for their Haunted House on Sep. 14th. The meeting adjourned so members could visit with the National President and JCI President at RAM. We hope to see everyone out soon!
